Roller shutters for security, heat and quiet
Roller shutters are fitted to the outside of the window. When they're down, aluminium slats cover the glass completely, blocking sun before it reaches the window, cutting outside noise and adding a physical barrier against break-ins and hail.
Why choose them
Roller shutters at a glance
When they're up, the shutter rolls into a compact box above the window and you have a clear view. We measure, supply and install shutters to suit your wall type and window size.
Where they work best
- West- and north-facing windows in summer
- Bedrooms on busy roads
- Homes that are empty during the day or on holidays
- Protection from hail and storm damage
Options
Make them yours
- Slats
- Insulated aluminium slats in a range of colours to match your roof, gutters or window frames.
- Operation
- Manual winder or strap, or motorised with a wall switch or remote.
- Motor control
- Group control so several shutters open and close together.
- Fit
- Face-fitted or recessed boxes depending on the window and eaves.
Worth knowing: Motorised shutters need power near the window. We'll tell you during the measure whether an electrician is needed.

Questions
Roller shutters FAQs
Do roller shutters reduce heat?
Yes. Because they sit outside the glass, they stop the sun before it reaches the window, which is more effective than an internal blind or curtain.
Manual or motorised?
Manual shutters cost less and suit smaller windows used occasionally. Motorised shutters are easier for large windows and for shutters you'll open and close every day.
Can roller shutters be fitted to brick homes?
Yes. We fit shutters to brick, rendered and clad homes. The mounting method is confirmed when we measure.
